The Matroska Multimedia Container was founded by a programmer named Steve Lhomme in the year 2002. For your information, the name Matroska was derived for "matryoshka" which means 'Nesting Dolls' in russian. The Matroska container are specially designed to mix and match any number of media files which includes pictures, audio, subtitles and video into one universal container.
