Why is Blogging Such an Effective SEO Strategy?02.13.08

Over time popular bloggers build up hundreds or thousands of subscribers. These subscribers are people interested in the field or topics that blogger writes about. Each time those bloggers write a new post those readers get notified of the new content in their RSS readers.

Imagine that"¦

  • everytime you had an idea to share, that 5,000 people who trust your opinions see it.
  • most of those 5,000 also write blogs in your field or related fields.
  • some of those bloggers frequently mention your site
  • some of those bloggers also have thousands of subscribers.

Blogs are all about spreading ideas (via in content links) and accumulating attention. Where people go search engines follow. If many people link to your blog posts that also boosts your search engine rankings for the other parts of your site.

If you write a frequently updated blog the media is more likely to believe you are a topical expert than if you are just a merchant selling goods in your industry.

BlogRush Has Some New Plans10.05.07

Recently a new site called BlogRush was launched and I decided to try 'em out. Everything is working pretty great. I've got several traffic from the BlogRush widget and I'm quite happy :)

After a few days signing up with BlogRush, they sent a newsletter about their new changes.

The statistics page at BlogRush is currently disabled…temporarily. Here are the changes that BlogRush will implement:

  • 100% manual blog review: Might be a little unrealistic but BlogRush says this will keep spam sites from messing and poisoning the BlogRush network.
  • More categories: This is to improve relevancy of links in the widget.
  • Improved reporting: Low traffic members may get more bonus credits.
  • Improved network distribution: balance between building and using credit points.

How To Reach Number One In The Search Engines03.04.07

If you are wondering which is the best way or even how you reach number one or the top ten in the search engines, then this is the article for you.

In my opinion it is not rocket science. As long as you have a well designed and optimized website the most important thing you need is backward links and lots of them. These links should have different link texts which even though different will always include your keyword. For example if the keyword is stuttering the link text could be, stuttering therapy, stuttering information, stuttering treatment, stuttering help or stuttering advice.

A Secret Way Of Getting Traffic02.27.07

Submitting to Online Directories

If you are reading this article, more likely than not you own a website that you would like to see be a success. To achieve that level, you need traffic to your site. But where does traffic come from?

One of the better ways to get traffic for your site is to submit your site to the many directoriesthat exist online. Online directories are similar to your phone book yellow pages: These directories are categorized (education, entertainment, health, etc.), and when you submit your website, you suggest a category for your website. Often, you will even be able to submit to a sub-category within a major category. For example, suppose your website is about aromatherapy.

In your submission request, you would suggest "Health" as your main category, "Alternative Medicine" as your sub-category, and "Aromatherapy" as a further sub-category.

Some of the leading online directories are Yahoo!, MSN Small Business, and the DMOZ directory. Unlike search engines, however, listings in online directories are usually not free. As of this writing, you can submit for free to the Yahoo! Directory (http://dir.yahoo.com), but there is not guarantee on how quickly your website will be reviewed for listing. If you need your site reviewed faster, you can pay Yahoo! $299 US for "expedited" service and they will review your site within seven days. However, this fee is a yearly recurring fee. Your website is subject to a yearly review, and is guaranteed neither initial inclusion or to remain listed year after year.
